DEADLINE: September 15, 2022

The Red River Gorge is a canyon system on the Red River in east-central Kentucky. Geologically, it is part of the Pottsville Escarpment. The gorge lies within the Daniel Boone National Forest. The writer receives a $200 honorarium, and resides, for 1 - 2  weeks, in a furnished house, on the grounds, offering all of the modern domestic necessities. The period of the residency is dependent, in part, on the institution's overall schedule of visiting artists and writers. In turn, the writer has an immense amount of say as to when they occupy the residency, having the ability to delay beginning the residency for up to a year of being awarded the residency. Also, residents are welcome to bring their partners.

The application fee is $22.00.

All of the below should be included in a Single WORD or PDF document submitted through Submittable.

Please include a unique name for your submission (i.e. something other than "Blackacre Residency," or "Baltic Application," etc.). .
     * 10 pages of poetry.
     * A CV, including a publication list, and your full contact information.
     * Contact Information for two references.

Applications may be made by anyone writing in English (translations are admissible). Applications are read by an anonymous committee of judges composed of one member of the English Department of Harvard University, one poet of recognized standing, and one fiction writer of recognized standing.  We are more than open to genre writing (YA, sci-fi, romance, thriller, crime, &c.).

Former students, as well as, friends and family of the staff of the Baltic Writing Residency are ineligible to apply. Do not include any additional material (cover letter, reference letters, books, etc.). You can email with any questions you might have.
